It’s no wonder 2nd Street Floors is Williamsburg’s premier flooring store—Mark Ackermann has been immersed in the industry since 1979. At 16, he got his start at The Billy James Company in Hampton, Virginia, learning the trade that would shape his career.

Mark’s journey took him to New Jersey, where he specialized in custom carpet installations under Bob Barrett in Upper Montclair. Soon after, he and his brother, Kurt, launched Marks Carpet Installation, serving Bergen County and Manhattan with HH Nakashian and Sons.

After years as an installer and business owner, Mark saw the need for a full-service flooring store where customers could shop for quality flooring while receiving expert installation. In 2014, he brought that vision to life with 2nd Street Floors.



What began as a single location has grown into two stores, serving Williamsburg, Providence Forge, and the entire Hampton Roads, Virginia area. Today, Mark and his team continue to provide top-quality flooring with expert service.
