Mark Ackermann
Owner
With over 40 years of experience in the flooring industry, Mark Ackermann is a trusted expert in flooring sales and installation across the Virginia Peninsula, including Williamsburg, New Kent, Providence Forge, and the greater Hampton Roads area. His journey began in 1979 at The Billy James Company in Hampton, Virginia, where he learned the flooring trade from the ground up. Mark refined his expertise in custom carpet installations while working under Bob Barrett in Upper Montclair, New Jersey. He later co-founded Marks Carpet Installation with his brother, Kurt, serving Bergen County and Manhattan with high-end flooring solutions. These experiences gave him a deep understanding of both flooring craftsmanship and customer service.
In 2014, Mark founded Second Street Floors to bring a full-service flooring store to Williamsburg and beyond—offering high-quality flooring materials paired with expert installation. Today, Second Street Floors has expanded to serve homeowners and businesses throughout the VA Peninsula, providing top-tier hardwood, luxury vinyl, carpet, and tile flooring at everyday low prices.
As a New Kent/Lanexa resident, Mark loves being part of the local community and takes pride in offering personalized service to his neighbors. When he’s not helping customers find the perfect flooring, you’ll likely find him fishing on the Chickahominy River—one of his favorite pastimes. His passion for the outdoors and love for the Williamsburg and New Kent area drive his commitment to supporting local homeowners and businesses with top-quality flooring solutions.

Sara Pinto
Project Manager
Sara Pinto has been an integral part of Second Street Floors since the very beginning. Starting as a sales associate when the store first opened, she quickly became a go-to flooring expert, mastering every product and installation process. With 12 years of hands-on experience, Sara knows flooring like the back of her hand—learning in just over a decade what most might take a lifetime to understand.
Her passion for flooring goes beyond product knowledge. Sara thrives on helping customers find the perfect flooring solutions, ensuring every project runs smoothly from start to finish. Now overseeing estimates and project management, she plays a key role in keeping projects on track and customers satisfied.
As part of a family-owned and operated business, Sara takes pride in the company’s values of quality, integrity, and exceptional service—something that runs in the family, as she is also Mark Ackermann’s daughter. However, she has built her own reputation in the industry through hard work, expertise, and dedication to customer satisfaction.
Now living in the Outer Banks, Sara works remotely full-time, managing projects across Williamsburg, New Kent, and the Virginia Peninsula. While she may not be in the store every day, she stays deeply involved—handling estimates, coordinating installations, and ensuring every project meets Second Street Floors' high standards.
She balances her career with a busy family life—she and her husband Ross, a Kill Devil Hills firefighter, have four children and a beloved golden doodle, Jolie. She is an invaluable part of Second Street Floors!
Keith Pressley
Warehouse & Delivery Manager
As our warehouse & delivery manager, Keith Pressley plays a crucial role in keeping our workflow efficient and organized.
Keith manages our extensive warehouse and inventory, handling deliveries from major flooring manufacturers like Shaw Floors and ensuring that every product is accounted for. He also oversees job preparation, making sure that installers have everything they need for the next day’s projects. From residential homes to large commercial buildings, Keith is responsible for delivering flooring materials on time, every time.
Known for his politeness, honesty, and strong work ethic, Keith is a true professional. His clear communication and reliability make him a valued part of our team, ensuring that everything behind the scenes is taken care of so that installations go off without a hitch.
